Baku, October 14 (AZERTAC). A book entitled “Post-conflict restoration of Azerbaijani territories: conceptual basis” has been presented today in Baku.
The authors of the book are editor-in-chief of the scientific magazine “Caucasus and globalization” Nazim Muzaffarli and chief of the Caucasus Strategic Research Institute Eldar Ismayilov.
The book features issues of recovery of physical infrastructure and institutional reconstruction needed to be settled after the resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. The material of the book has been worked out with respect of the studies of the World Bank for Reconstruction of Post-Conflict Areas in different parts of the world.
The authors analyzed the new aspect of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict – post-conflict infrastructure of the territories and institutional reconstruction.
They said the book had already been presented in London, Brussels, European Parliament. According to them, the experience of foreign political analysts and experts has also been taken into consideration in the book. The authors of the book said $28.4 billion was needed for the recovery of the seven occupied Azerbaijani territories.
Addressing the event, Elnur Aslanov, head of the political analysis and information provision department at the Azerbaijani President`s Administration said settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict was one and restoration of territories and post-conflict development is another side of the issue. He noted the book proposes ways to settle the conflict.
Aslanov said OSCE Minsk Group`s co-chair countries - Russia, France and the United States and generally the international community, must not be indifferent to the aggressive policy of Armenia.
Aslanov said Armenia does not honor four resolutions adopted by the UN Security Council on the problem. He added it is regrettable that resolutions by an organization considered a guarantee for a global security remains unfulfilled.
Aslanov said Azerbaijan had repeatedly stated that it supports peaceful resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. But Armenia seeks to avoid talks and maintain status quo. Azerbaijan cannot accept this. It is impossible to secure peace and stability in the region by maintaining status quo.
Aslanov underlined the international community must exert pressure on Armenia to achieve peace and stability in the region.
The presentation ceremony was attended by MPs, diplomats, journalists and others.
