On September 23, 2026, the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) hosted the opening of the “UI GreenMetric World University Rankings: 2026 Results and Award Ceremony.”
Organized and hosted by Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU), with the support of the State Agency for Science and Higher Education, the international event aims to recognize the achievements of higher education institutions in environmental protection, energy efficiency, climate action, and sustainable development; announce the results of the 2026 global ranking; and facilitate the exchange of knowledge and best practices.
The event brought together university leaders from various countries, international experts, policymakers, and researchers, as well as heads of local higher education institutions and members of the academic community.
The event was attended by Professor Nazim Muzaffarli, Director General of the Institute of Economics of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan; Associate Professor Famil Rustamov, Executive Director; Associate Professor Mahir Zeynalov and Anvar Ismayilli, Heads of Departments; and leading researcher Associate Professor Tariyel Gurbanov.
It should be noted that the first day of the “UI GreenMetric World University Rankings: 2026 Results and Award Ceremony” featured a conference, five panel sessions, and two workshops. In addition, new cooperation agreements were signed between representatives of various higher education institutions. The event will continue through September 25, 2026 (economics.org.az)
