The Institute of Economics of the AR MSE offers full-time and part-time doctoral studies for the preparation of a Doctor of Philosophy. In accordance with the admission plan approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan for each year, the Institute of Economics conducts admission to doctoral studies for the preparation of a Doctor of Philosophy. Admission to doctoral studies is carried out in the following specialties according to the announcement published in the press each academic year:

Citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan who have completed a master's degree (defended a master's thesis) or whose education is considered equivalent to it are admitted to doctoral studies under the Doctor of Philosophy program on a competitive basis.
Candidates who wish to be admitted to the Doctor of Philosophy program must pass the foreign language exam conducted by the State Examination Center of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Candidates who pass the foreign language exam are admitted to the Philosophy exam. Candidates who pass the Philosophy exam are admitted to the specialty exam.
Doctoral students enrich their knowledge by using advanced teaching methods to write their scientific dissertations under the scientific guidance of qualified specialists, professors and associate professors of the Institute. They benefit from the library of the Institute of Economics and materials stored in the departments. They actively join the scientific creative activities of the Institute, and participate in regularly held scientific seminars, scientific events and conferences of young scientists and specialists (economics.org.az).
