On January 12, 2023, with the participation of experts of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Institute of Economics of the Ministry of Science and Education, held the presentation of the final report of the scientific research project "Evaluation of economic potential in post-conflict areas and selection of comparative advantage areas"
Opening the event with an introduction, the director general of the Institute of Economics, prof. Nazim Muzaffarli gave information about the project. He said that on the basis of the order of the Ministry of Economy, with the participation of a group of experts of the Institute of Economics under its leadership, scientific studies were conducted on the selection of areas of comparative advantage based on the assessment of the economic potential in the post-conflict areas of Azerbaijan, and were prepared proposals and recommendations for the government.
Zamin Badirkhanov, Head of Department of Territorial Restoration and Development of the Ministry of Economy, spoke about the importance of this project in the process of restoring post-conflict areas and building a new economy here, and highly appreciated the work of the experts involved in its implementation.
At the online meeting, Deputy of General Director for special projects of the Institute of Economics, Associate Professor Allahyar Muradov made a comprehensive presentation based on the final report of the project. He said that the main goal of the project is to assess the economic potential of Azerbaijan in the post-conflict areas and select the comparatively superior areas. First, assessed the potential of repatriation in post-conflict areas, and then determined 5 main development directions and 14 priorities based on comparative advantages. Separately investigated the potential opportunities for the realization of the tasks set by the fourth industrial revolution in Karabakh. In order to realize the potential advantages, prepared specific proposals and recommendations on the implementation of the supporting mechanisms and tools of the state regulation of the economy, strengthening of public-private cooperation and presented to the relevant state institutions. The results of the research will be published in the form of a book.
Answered questions about the project and held extensive discussions at the event, which was attended by the researchers of the Institute of Economics, AZPROMO and the experts of the Scientific Research Institute of Economic Reforms of the Ministry of Economy, who are directly involved in the implementation of the project. Khazar Bashirov, Head of Trade Policy and World Trade Organization Department of the Ministry of Economy, Professor Arzu Huseynova, 1st Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of the Scientific Research Institute of Economic Reforms, as well as experts of the project - Professor Fuad Ganbarov and Associate Professor Mahir Zeynalov made speeches.
At the meeting, was specially noted the benefit of the scientific-research work "Evaluation of economic potential in post-conflict areas and selection of comparative priority areas" in building a new economy in Karabakh on scientific foundations, was emphasized the necessity of continuing research in this field, the importance of cooperation between government institutions and scientific institutions (economics.com.az).
