On September 20, 2022, under the joint organization of the Ministry of Culture and the Institute of Economics of the Ministry of Science and Education the international scientific-practical conference “Economy of culture in Azerbaijan: development impulses from Shusha” started in Shusha and continued in Baku
Head of the Department of Humanitarian Policy, Diaspora, Multiculturalism and Religious Affairs of the Presidential Administration, Farah Aliyeva, the Minister of Culture Anar Karimov, Director General of the Institute of Economics, Professor Nazim Muzaffarli, MPs and other officials, employees of the Ministry of Culture and the Institute of Economics took part in the event held at Fairmont Hotel. The moderator of the conference, well-known expert on start-ups, Israeli expert Tal Katran greeted the guests and highly appreciated the importance of the event.
Speaking at the conference, Minister of Culture Anar Karimov said that guests from 15 countries had come to Azerbaijan in connection with the conference. They visited our cultural capital Shusha and other regions. A very important exchange of ideas was held in Shusha. This event is a part of our return to Karabakh, a stage of our restoration work there. This conference is important both in terms of visualizing and promoting the 30 years of destruction and vandalism there, including today's development.
The Minister noted that the Ministry of Culture attaches great importance to the development of creative industries: "With the support of the Ministry, established the Federation of Creative Industries of Azerbaijan. We constantly keep topics such as increasing the contribution of creative industries and this sector to the economy. Culture and creative industries have also reflected “in the socio-economic development strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2022─2026 as areas with priority development prospects”.
First Deputy Minister of Economy Elnur Aliyev, Deputy Minister of Science and Education Firudin Gurbanov, Chairman of the Culture Committee of Milli Mejlis Ganira Pashayeva made speeches at the conference.
Later, held panel discussions on the creation of state mechanisms and incentives. Deputy Chairman of the State Tourism Agency Azade Huseynova, First Deputy Minister of Culture Elnur Aliyev, Deputy Minister of Economy Sahib Mammadov, Chairman of the Board of the Karabakh Revival Fund Rahman Hajiyev, international expert on cultural economy Ornela Ramasauskaite made speeches on the important issues of the creative ecosystem. Answered the questions of the conference participants.
The conference continued its work with panel sessions. The second panel moderated by Israeli expert Tal Katra, a well-known expert on startups, was dedicated to the global trends of the cultural economy and the intersection of industry 4.0 and the creative economy. Jeyhun Salmanov, Deputy Chairman of the State Agency for Service to Citizens and Social Innovations under the President, Victoria Kanar, co-founder of “Re-Fresh Global” (Israel), Rector of Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC), Professor Adalat Muradov and “Zero Gravity Capital” (Slovakia) Vit Hanus, an employee of the company mad speeches in the conference.
The third panel of the conference was dedicated to the theme “Support to creative economy, access to finance”. Founder and CEO of “BeNear" company Lyudmila Livertovski, Head of Department of Center for Analysis and Communication of Economic Reforms (IITKM) Rashad Huseynov, foreign experts Rahul Yadav, Karl Rheinberger shared their opinions.
Later, Professor Tabriz Aliyev, head of the Department of the Institute of Economics of the Ministry of Science and Education, “Factors shaping the influence of the cultural sector of Azerbaijan on economic growth”, and Alovsat Aliyev, the head of the Department of the Institute of Information Technologies of the Ministry of Science and Education, “Issues of digital transformation in the effective formation and management of the cultural sectors of the economy of Karabakh” made a presentation on the topics.
In the end, at the closing ceremony of the event, First Deputy Minister of Culture E.Aliyev delivered the final speech. Director General of the Institute of Economics, N. Muzaffarli, expressed his gratitude to the state institutions supporting the organization of the international scientific conference, to everyone who contributed, including foreign experts, and expressed confidence that such discussions will be continued.
