On September 16, 2026, the "2nd International Conference of Leading National Think Tanks of Turkic States" held in Baku, was jointly organized by the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication and the Secretariat of the Organization of Turkic States.
The event aimed to deepen integration among Turkic states, establish joint research platforms, and strengthen institutional cooperation against the backdrop of global economic transformations.
Professor Nazim Muzaffarli, Director General of the Institute of Economics under the Ministry of Science and Education, spoke at the panel discussions held within the framework of the international conference on "Assessment of trade and economic relations among OTS member states: current trends and untapped opportunities."
N. Muzaffarli discussed the prospects of the Organization of Turkic States evolving into an economic power center. He highlighted the growth of mutual trade among member states but noted that the formation of such an economic power center is an ongoing process. He noted that, alongside trade volume, the depth of economic ties is also of great importance in this process.
The professor presented an analysis regarding the degree of structural complementarity in Azerbaijan's trade with other Turkic states. He highlighted the importance of assessing the tangible results of integration by looking at the reduction of barriers to the cross-border activities of enterprises.
The role of co-financing and investment mechanisms in deepening economic ties was also noted during the remarks. Emphasis was placed on the importance of the investment and development funds established by Azerbaijan with partner countries, also the Turkic Investment Fund, in this regard (economics.org.az).
