On September 16, 2021, held an international scientific-practical conference on "BUILDING A NEW ECONOMY IN KARABAKH: DEVELOPMENT IMPULSES FROM AGDAM" in Aghdam city that organized by the Special Representation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Aghdam region, the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Karabakh Revival Fund and the Institute of Economics of ANAS
Along with economists, employees of a number of government agencies participated in the conference (employees of the Special Representation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Aghdam region, Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Karabakh Revival Fund, State Statistics Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan), teachers from the universities (UNEC, Baku Business University, Khazar University, Sumgayit State University) and foreign guests from aboard (Europe, USA and Turkey).
The conference participants first got acquainted with the current situation in Aghdam, which was devastated, they witnessed the heartbreaking consequences of the Armenian vandalism that devastated the city. Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for Aghdam region Emin Huseynov and guides informed the guests about the memorial complex of Karabakh khans and Imarat cemetery, Bread Museum, Aghdam State Drama Theater, Juma Mosque, Central Square, and etc.
Then in an open-air international scientific conference began in Agdam. Opening the event, director of the Institute of Economics of ANAS, Doctor of economic sciences, professor, chairman of the Organizing Committee of the conference Nazim Muzaffarli (Imanov), in the liberated part of Aghdam region Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Emin Huseynov, Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sahib Alakbarov, Chairman of the Board of the Karabakh Revival Foundation Rahman Hajiyev made an opening speeches, they spoke about the importance of the event in terms of building a new economy in Karabakh, the future development of the region on a scientific basis, the research of economists can be very useful in this regard. 
At the plenary session of the conference chaired by prof., Nazim Muzaffarli, the rector of the Azerbaijan State University of Economics, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Adalat Muradov made a speech on “Innovative and digital Karabakh economy: conceptual review”, Deputy Chairman of the State Agency for Citizen Services and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Salmanov spoke on "Development potential and prospects of innovative economic spheres in Karabakh" and the head of the Scientific Center of Post-conflict Territories Rehabilitation of the Institute of Economics of ANAS, corresponding member of ANAS, doctor of economic sciences, professor Akif Musayev made a apeech on "Problems of effective settlement of post-conflict areas" . Held extensive discussions around the reports.
At the end of the conference, the appealed text addressed to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, was adopted on behalf of the participants of the international conference.
On September 17, 2021, the scientific conference chaired by the director of the Institute of Economics of ANAS, professor Nazim Muzaffarli continued its work in an online format.
The conference focused on building a new economy in Agdam: economic potential, the conference focused on building a new economy in Agdam: economic potential, priorities, expectations; natural resources and green energy potential of Aghdam and Karabakh as a whole; balance between traditional and non-traditional sectors of the economy in Karabakh; researchers' reports were heard and discussions were held on topical issues related to the return of IDPs to Agdam and Karabakh.
More than 100 scientific articles were submitted to the conference and the selected conference materials will be published in a book form (economics.com.az).
