On May 14, 2020, with the organization of Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction hosted an online scientific conference on “Heydar Aliyev and national economic development model of Azerbaijan" dedicated to the 97th anniversary of National leader Heydar Aliyev
The event was opened by Professor Gulchohra Mammadova the rector of the University. At the plenary session, the chairman of the Union of Azerbaijan Economists, deputy, academician Ziyad Samadzadeh made a speech on “Heydar Aliyev and the economic development strategy of the Azerbaijan”, the head of Department of Industry and Energy of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, D.Sc., prof. Elshan Hajizadeh made a speech on “Global Challenges and New Development Goals in the National Energy Sector”, Executive Director of the Center for Economic Reform Analysis and Communication D.Sc., Vusal Gasimli spoke on “Development model of Azerbaijan economy”, director of the Institute of Economics of ANAS, D.Sc., prof. Nazim Muzaffarli (Imanov) made a speech on “About approaches to the choice of economic development strategy” and D.Sc., prof. Elshad Mammadov from Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) made a speech on “Economic policy of Azerbaijan in the context of new challenges”.
In his speech Prof. Nazim Muzaffarli gave notes on the IL(R)E Index scientific researches conducted at the Institute of Economics of ANAS and its results, assessment of the level of state intervention in the economy, measurement, classification of the world countries by economic models, liberalism and dirigisme level of researched 95 countries, their main features, different levels of development of leftness and rightness countries and etc.
He also said that according to assessments by the Institute of Economics of ANAS, Azerbaijan has an intermediate economic model. In times of crisis, government intervention in the economy usually increases, and such a process is expected to occur in the next two years. However, the liberal economic reforms must be continued in Azerbaijan for the long term.
Then the conference continued its work in the section meetings, were heard the reports. Employees of the Institute of Economics of ANAS also attended the online conference (economics.com.az).
