On February 26, 2020, held an event dedicated to the 28th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide organized by the Council of Young Scientists of the Institute of Economics, ANAS
First of all, the memory of victims of Khojaly genocide and all those who lost their lives for the Motherland was commemorated with a minute's silence.
Speaking at the event, Ramil Aliyev, chairman of the Council of Young Scientists, Doctor of Philosophy in Economics, spoke about the Khojaly genocide that occurred 28 years ago and said it was the worst tragedy in our history.
Because peaceful and unarmed people were purposefully killed with special cruelty. 613 people, including 106 women, 63 children and 70 elderly, were killed brutally, 8 families were completely destroyed, 25 children lost both parents and 130 children lost one of their parents. 1275 civilians were taken hostage that night, and the fate of 150 people is still unknown.
Other speakers were an associate professor Nasimi Ahmedov, leading scientific researcher Tanriverdi Pasha, associate professor Alasgar Sariyev. Speaking about the tragedies realized by Armenians and occupation of our motherlands from time to time, Alesgar Sariyev described Khojaly tragedy as one of the worst genocides in the world. They hope that the perpetrators of the massacre will face justice, the perpetrators will receive their due punishment and justice will be found in our history. It was stated that our people, especially the youth, should never forget what happened, and should draw a conclusion from it, and unite more closely to the liberation of our occupied lands (economics.com.az).
