Held the next meeting of the Working Group on “Trade at the Border”
On November 29, 2019, the State Customs Committee held a regular meeting of the Working Group on Trade in the Border of the Commission on Business Environment and International Ratings of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The event was attended by Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee, Major General of Customs Service Javad Gasimov, Chief Executive Officers, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Justice, Food Safety Agency, Institute of Economics, ANAS, Center for Analyzes and Communication of Economic Reforms, Agency of Small and Medium Business Development and members of consulting companies.
Deputy Chairman of the Committee Javad Gasimov informed the participants of the event about the carried out works on “Execution and Communication Plan for the second half of 2019, in connection with the reforms in the field of foreign trade to further improving the business environment and our country's position in international rankings”. In addition, a new portal, e-customs, which provides information on the measures taken within the framework of trade facilitation, including the results of the implementation of the “Green Corridor” release system, draft decisions, import and export duties on foreign economic activity and procedures and required documents. Information on innovations in the use of mobile services, draft binding projects, import and export duties on the commodity nomenclature of foreign economic activity, including a new portal that contains information about procedures and required documentation, information on innovations in the use of e-customs services by mobile communications. It was also reported that implementation of joint customs control mechanism in coordination with the parties in the state borders of Azerbaijan this is one of the priority goals of the State Customs Committee and a number of necessary works have already been completed in this area.
Then the sides exchanged views on issues of mutual interest. Member of the Working Group on Trade Indicators at the Commission on Business Environment and International Rankings, Senior Researcher at the Institute of Economics, ANAS, Ph.D. Agil Eyvazov noted in his speech gave detailed information on the research on "Socio-economic development of Azerbaijan and directions for further improvement of its position in international comparative rankings (2019-2021)". Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee, expressed readiness to cooperate with our Institute in this area and to share the results of the research and mutual discussions (economics.com.az).
