On November 27, 2019, held the general meeting of the Department of Social Sciences of ANAS. The event was attended by ANAS Vice President, Academician Isa Habibbayli, Academic Secretary of the Department, Academician Nargiz Akhundova, members of the Bureau, heads of scientific institutions, scientific councilors and other concerned persons
The director of the Institute of Economics, ANAS, Doctor of Economics, Prof. Nazim Muzaffarli made a presentation on the scientific and organizational activity of the Institute in 2019. According to the director, the Institute conducted research on "Socio-economic development of Azerbaijan and directions for further improvement of its position in the international comparative rankings (2019-2021)". With this purpose have been set up 24 working groups. The research included suggestions and recommendations coordinating economic and social areas from 20 government agencies.
In the Institute conducts research on 22 international rankings. Another 4 ratings are the institute's own researches. These are the Index of Leftness (Rightness), Socio-Economic Development in Azerbaijan, Realization of Economic Potential in Azerbaijan, and Quality of Life Index in Azerbaijan. On the basis of these indices, the quality of life was comparably assessed in 8 economic regions of Azerbaijan, 6 cities of republican subordination and in 55 administrative districts. Also was developed the mathematical apparatus in unbalanced open economic systems for the identification of multifactor dependencies of macroeconomic norms and indicators of efficiency. Based on the measurement of state modeling interventions in the economy the level of liberalization and conductivity of the economy was assessed in 95 countries.
Prof. N.Muzaffarli noted that Institute of Economics of ANAS are represented at the expert level in the 10 working groups created by various government agencies. During the year the staff of the Institute participated in 8 international conferences and forums, more than 50 employees have attended more than 30 country-wide conferences, forums and seminars. There are 116 researchers, including 16 doctors and 45 doctors of philosophy in the Institute.
By 2019 the Institute staff published 305 scientific works, including 2 textbooks and 10 monographs. Institute staff made numerous speeches on various television channels, newspapers, electronic media, commented on the socio-economic processes taking place in the country, have actively participated in the promotion of economic reforms in the country. On the scientific discussion platform "Creative economy" of the Institute of Economics listened and carried out discussions on various reports during the year. In such discussions on the socio-economic development of the country they participated together with the representatives of government agencies (economics.com.az).
