On October 18, 2018, the 60th jubilee event of Institute of Economics ANAS was held at the main building of ANAS. The meeting was attended by the members of the Government and Parliament, heads and employees’ of the institutes of ANAS, university rectors, well-known economist scientists, guests from foreign countries - China, Georgia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Russia and Kyrgyzstan
The event started with participation of ANAS leadership, Institute of Economics and foreign guests’ visit to grave memorials of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev and well-known scientist-ophthalmologist Zarifa Aliyeva's, martyrs' alley, and they put wreath and flowers there.
On October 18, 2018, the event began with the performance of the State Anthem of Azerbaijan, because of the same day was the day of adoption of the Constitutional Act on the State Independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The opening ceremony of the solemn meeting started by the young scientist of the Institute of Economics, ANAS Vusala Gubatova and opened by academician Akif Alizadeh, President of ANAS.
The president of ANAS, spoke about the 60 years of productive and 
rich historical development ways that has passed the Institute of Economics, ANAS, their role in the development of economics science of Azerbaijan, their contribution to the development of Azerbaijan's economy, educating professional economists and scientists and carried out important scientific researches. Academician, pointed out the achievements of the Institute of Economics in the past, highly appreciated its activity, expressed his confidence in that even in the future they will continue to make significant contributions to the development of the country's economy and in the economics science of Azerbaijan: “Through its fundamental and applied research this institute has made great contributions to the development of the Azerbaijani economy. Now, this Institute is the flagship of our economic science, the main coordinator of economic research in our country. In fact, 60-year-old can be considered as a "youth" cycle for a science. But during these six decades, the Institute of Economics has passed a great and honorable way”.
Director of the Institute of Economics, ANAS, Doctor of Economics, Professor Nazim Muzaffarli (Imanov) spoke about the recent innovations in the life of the institute, first-time results, carried out purposeful reforms, fundamental research that draws the attention of government agencies and foreign academic circles, close involvement of the institute in the development and implementation of the state programs, also noted the opportunities for cooperation with government agencies. Directorate which headed by the director of the institute emphasized that they understand their duties very well and the future goals are also clear in the field of economics science of Azerbaijan and progressive areas of the economy of Azerbaijan. He said that the main goal in the near future is to transform the Institute into a real center of fundamental economic research in Azerbaijan. Professor Nazim Muzaffarli proudly said that 
the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, on the base of Decrees dated on October 16, 2018, awarded 7 employees of the Institute of Economics, ANAS, - 5 of them awarded with Honorary Diploma of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and 2 of them awarded with the “Taraggi” Medal for their contribution to the development of economics science. He expressed his deep gratitude to the President Ilham Aliyev for his high attention and care.
Speaking at the event, the head of department of the Institute of Economics, ANAS, awarded with "Progress" medal, Professor Tofig Huseynov also expressed his gratitude to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and to the leadership of ANAS for such high awards.
At the event Honorary Doctor of ANAS Institute of Economics, Acting member of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences, Vladimer Papava, Rector of Azerbaijan State Economic University, Professor Adalat Muradov, Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Economic Institute of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Professor Pey Chanhun, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee of AR on Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship, academician Ziyad Samadzadeh, 
Director of the Institute of Economics and Forecasting of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, academician Valery Mikhaylovich Geyets, Executive Director of the Center for Economic Reforms Analysis and Communications Vusal Gasimli, including Director of the Institute of Economics under the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Acting member of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, Professor Azimkhan Abilkairovic Satibaldin 
delivered their congratulations, shared their heartfelt words wished them further successes in their further activity to the staff of the Institute of Economics, ANAS.
At the event by the president of ANAS, academician Akif Alizadeh, presented the diploma of the Honorary Doctor of the Institute of Economics, ANAS to Professor Pei Chanhunq, Chairman of the China Institute of ASS Economics.
At the meeting, winners of the scientific articles’ competition among young economists, dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the Institute of Economics, Sponsored by NBCBank and Nicos Cosmetics were awarded with diplomas and cash prizes.
At the solemn meeting, were signed agreements with several foreign scientific centers. Institute of Economics, ANAS and A.Rondeli Foundation, as well as the Institute of Economics under the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan signed contracts on joint researches. Also between the Institute of Economics, ANAS and the Institute of Economics and Prognosis of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine signed a cooperation agreement (economics.com.az)
