On June 27, 2018, held the next meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Economics, ANAS chaired by the Director of the Institute, Professor Nazim Muzaffarli.
The Chairman of the Competition Commission, Ph.D. in Economics, Associate Professor Allahyar Muradov gave information about the pretendants of the department of “The regional development and 
utilization problems of natural resources”. Held discussions on each applicant's scientific activities, they asked to addressed questions and heard their opinions at the meeting. Then a secret ballot was held in order to hold the scientific position claimed for each candidate. According to the results, 
Doctor of Economics, professor Rena Sultanova elected head of the department, Karim Piriyev, Nasimi Ahmadov and Matanat Abdalova elected senior scientific workers, Najafli Svetlana, Mammadov Tural and Vilayat Ramazanov elected scientific workers, Yusubov Dagistan, Ayyubov Mazaddin and Rauf Rzayev elected leading scientific workers.
In the second half of the day, at the Scientific Council held a competition for scientific positions in the department of "Innovation management and development problems of science". According to the results the position of head of department was left blank because nobody applied for this position, Mikayilova Sevda and Emin Mammed-zade elected leading scientific workers, Vefa Rustamova and Rafig Rzayev elected scientific workers, Ulker Rzayeva elected junior scientific worker (economics.com.az).
