On April 27, 2018, held the meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Economics, ANAS. At the meeting chaired by the Director of the Institute, Professor Nazim Muzaffarli (Imanov), discussed an article by the head of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan, Academician of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Ramiz Mehdiyev "The Main Directions of Economic Development Strategy by the President Ilham Aliyev" and the responsibilities of employees of the Institute of Economics
Professor Nazim Muzaffarli, opened the event, and spoke about the importance of the academician's article for the scientific community and the role of economists in implementing the economic development strategy.
Head of the department of "Industrial Policy and Investment Problems" of the Institute of Economics, Professor Tofig Huseynov, made a report on Academician Ramiz Mehdiyev's article "The Main Directions of Economic Development Strategy by the President Ilham Aliyev" and the responsibilities of the Institute of Economics. The main directions of development strategy have been presented and all fields have been widely analyzed. Therefore, economists should take the same strategy in their researches, and scientific research should be carried out in accordance with the new requirements too. 
Reporter, noted the works has been doing on recent achievements by the Institute of Economics, ANAS, and in the article of the Academician R.Mehdiyev correctly and urgently emphasized the tasks of economics science and economists in the development of the national economy. Professor T.Huseynov expressed his gratitude to Academician R.Mehdiyev for his high attention to Azerbaijan's economy.
It should be noted that, in the article of academician Ramiz Mehdiyev, the following ideas have attracted the attention of economist scientists: it is important to involve economist scientists, independent experts in the discussion of economic problems for the establishment of economic ideological propaganda in line with our national interests. Unfortunately, there is a great distance between the economic - scientific environment of Azerbaijan and the economically-oriented state bodies. Failure to reduce this distance in many cases 
leads to the spontaneous politicization of economic - scientific potential. In order to ensure the scientific character of the implemented economic reforms and a constructive approach to the existing problems, conditions should be created for Azerbaijan's economic - scientific environment should be closely involved in the process of economic development. It should be taken into account that economists are the main part of the intellectuals of the country, as well as they are the main force in promoting and implementing economic reforms".
At the Scientific Council also held wide discussions on above-mentioned issues. Speakers at the meeting - corresponding members of ANAS – Prof. Shahbaz Muradov, Prof. Korkmaz Imanov, Prof. Ali Nuriyev, Prof. Akif Musayev, also Prof. Rena Sultanova and Prof. Nazim Muzaffarli, talked about the economists responsibilities in the socio-economic development of the country and the Institute of Economics, ANAS, responding the economic and scientific environment to the modern requirements and new challenges, cooperation opportunities with economically-oriented state bodies in scientific-practical aspects, fundamental researches conducting at the Institute of Economics, as well as the key issues of the development strategy.
