A commemorative event was held at the Institute of Economics of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan in connection with September 27 – Remembrance Day.
The event commenced with one -minute silence in memory of the Azerbaijani martyrs.
Opening the event with introductory remarks, Associate Professor Famil Rustamov, Executive Director of the Institute noted that in response to the military aggression launched by Armenia against our country on September 27, 2020, the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan—under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief—initiated the Patriotic War to liberate our occupied territories. Our army liberated the lands that had remained under Armenian occupation for nearly 30 years.
As a mark of profound respect for the soldiers and officers who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, and for all Azerbaijani martyrs, September 27 is commemorated annually in Azerbaijan as Remembrance Day pursuant to the Order signed by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on December 2, 2020.
The courage, bravery, and heroism demonstrated by the Azerbaijani soldiers in achieving this victory will remain forever enshrined in the memory of the Azerbaijani people and serve as an example for future generations.
Associate Professor Famil Rustamov noted that the successful outcome of the 44-day war holds profound historical, political, economic, military, and moral significance. By fighting for its rights and liberating its territories from occupation, the Azerbaijani people restored the country’s territorial integrity.
He emphasized that Remembrance Day is a day dedicated to honoring the sacred memory of the martyrs and paying tribute to their sacrifice. Azerbaijan has always highly valued the courage and heroism of its sons and daughters who have fought for the country, cherishing the memory of all its martyrs and paying profound respect to their sacrifice.
The speakers at the event - including Tariyel Gurbanov, Tanriverdi Pasha, Dilman Asadov, Yulduz Aliyeva, Sevda Mikayilova, and Firdovsi Shahbazov - spoke about the victory achieved as a result of the 44-day Patriotic War, the unity between the people and the army, the measures implemented under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, and the path leading to victory. They also highlighted the large-scale reconstruction and development efforts currently being carried out in the liberated territories.
It was noted that nearly 3,000 servicemen of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces lost their lives during the Patriotic War, while hundreds of servicemen were wounded and suffered health impairments. The territories that had been under occupation were liberated at the cost of the lives and sacrifices of our heroic martyrs, soldiers, officers, and veterans.
Preserving the sacred memory of our martyrs and passing on their heroism and legacy to future generations is a moral responsibility shared by each of us.
May Allah bless the souls of our martyrs and grant them eternal peace.
May our veterans be blessed with good health and well-being (economics.org.az).
