Held the next meeting of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists at the Institute of Economics of the Ministry of Science and Education on July 1, 2026. The event, organized under the chairmanship of the Council's chairman, Doctor of Philosophy in Economics Elnur Zeynalov, included extensive discussions on increasing the economic efficiency of the higher education system and the current problems in this direction.
At the meeting, Ayten Agayeva, a doctoral student at the Institute, delivered a report on "Ways to Improve the Economic Efficiency of Higher Education in the Republic of Azerbaijan."
The speaker provided detailed information on the role of higher education in socio-economic development, its impact on the formation of human capital, and the importance of higher education institutions in ensuring economic growth. He analyzed international experience in this area and highlighted successful management models, higher education financing mechanisms, and methods for assessing the effectiveness of universities in various countries.
At the report paid special attention to improve the quality of education, accelerating the digital transformation process in higher education institutions, introducing innovative management mechanisms, strengthening university-industry-state cooperation, and ensuring compatibility between the education system and the labor market.
At the end of the report, a number of proposals and recommendations were presented based on the results of the research aimed at developing the higher education system. The proposals covered the areas of increasing the efficiency of higher education institutions, improving personnel training in line with the requirements of the labor market, strengthening the innovation potential of universities, and expanding international cooperation.
The executive director of the Institute of Economics, associate professor Famil Rustamov, who participated in the discussions, emphasized the relevance of the research topic and said that increasing the economic efficiency of higher education is important in terms of socio-economic development of the country, strengthening of human capital and formation of a competitive economy. He voiced his recommendations on deepening the research, expanding international comparative analyzes and practical application of the obtained results.
During the meeting, answered participants' questions, held a broad exchange of views on the topic, and were put forward various proposals regarding to the future development prospects of the higher education system (economics.org.az).
