On June 18, 2026, held the next meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Economics of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The meeting, chaired by the Director General of the Institute, Professor Nazim Muzaffarli, discussed the current state of scientific activity, personnel training, and a number of issues related to international cooperation.
At the beginning of the meeting, Professor Nazim Muzaffarli congratulated Kamran Abdullayev on receiving the scientific degree of Doctor of Sciences in Economics, and Intizar Gurbanova on receiving the scientific degree of Associate Professor, wishing them success in their future scientific activities.
Then, the Executive Director of the Institute, Associate Professor Famil Rustamov made a report on the results of the scientific research work carried out by the scientific departments in the first half of 2026. He said that during the reporting period, held discussions with the participation of scientific staff from all departments, the status of research implementation, preparation and publication of scientific articles, and assessed participation in international and local conferences. At the same time, relevant proposals and recommendations were made to improve and deepen the quality of research.
At the meeting also discussed and approved the programs of the entrance exams for 7 specialties of the Institute for doctoral training, based on the presentation of the Head of the Education Department, Ellada Khankishiyeva.
One of the issues in the focus of the Scientific Council was international scientific cooperation. Head of the Department, Professor Rasmiyya Abdullayeva, and Head of the Department, Associate Professor Allahyar Muradov provided information about the III International Turkic World Strategic Studies Congress, which was held in Turkey on May 15-17, 2026.
The congress, organized by the Faculty of Political Sciences of Marmara University and the Turkic World Nomadic Turkmen Union, was supported by the Organization of Turkic States, TURKSOY, TIKA, YTB, the Turkic Academy and the Union of Turkic World Municipalities. At the report noted that R. Abdullayeva delivered reports at the congress on the topics of "Integration of Turkic states into the world and sustainable development: social entrepreneurship model", and A. Muradov delivered reports on "The impact of economic relations of Turkic states with developed countries on innovative development: challenges and opportunities".
Based on the presentation of the Institute's scientific secretary, Doctor of Economic Sciences Leyli Allahverdiyeva, made a decision to appoint new scientific supervisors for two former Ph.D students who were studying for a doctorate in philosophy.
At the end of the meeting, by the decision of the Scientific Council, the monographs “Digital Transformation of Libraries” by Doctor of Philosophy in History Shafag Islamova and “Liberalization of the Pension System” by Doctor of Philosophy in Economics Vafa Hashimova were recommended for publication.
It was emphasized that the decisions taken at the meeting of the Scientific Council will contribute to improving the quality of research conducted at the Institute, strengthening scientific potential, and further expanding international scientific relations (economics.org.az).
