On April 20-21, 2026, a group of employees of the Institute of Economics of the Ministry of Science and Education visited Agdash region within the framework of the project "Preparation of an incentive and support mechanism to increase the attractiveness of Agdash region for private investments".
The work done on the project, the intended outcomes, conducting a survey among entrepreneurs and specialists, also organizational issues were widely discussed at the meeting held at the Executive Power of Agdash Region. At the meeting with the Deputy Head of the Executive Power of the Region, Head of Department of Socio-Economic and Architectural-Construction Issues, Ali Karimov, the project coordinator, head of department of the Institute of Economics, Professor Terbiz Aliyev spoke about the main directions of scientific researches on the project. The project researchers - Assoc. Prof. Mahir Zeynalov, Assoc. Prof. Tariyel Gurbanov, Ph.D. Vilayat Ramazanov, including Murad Jafarli, advisor to the Socio-Economic Issues, Information Provision and Analysis Sector of Executive Power of the Region, participated in the discussions.
Then, researchers from the Institute of Economics got acquainted with the activities of local production and service’s enterprises operating in the Agdash region - Agdash Fruit Processing Plant, Agdash Feed Processing Factory, Agdash Building Materials Market, Biyan Industrial Park, a container production enterprise owned by individual entrepreneurs, "Araz-Inci" market and restaurant, and Hacıoğlu LLC. The heads of local enterprises provided information on their main areas of activity, production and services, number of employees, raw material supply, using of modern technologies, main characteristics of the local market, conditions and potential opportunities, investments, competitive environment, organization of sales, state support for business, etc., and talked about the main problems they faced, and expressed their wishes and desires.
Researchers from the Institute of Economics also conducted a survey among local entrepreneurs and experts to assess the socio-economic development, investment potential, and investment attractiveness of Agdash region. The purpose of this survey is to assess the level of socio-economic development, priority economic sectors, main development directions, investment potential and investment attractiveness of the Agdash district, based on the opinions of entrepreneurs and experts, as well as to identify the main obstacles affecting entrepreneurial activity, investment needs and development opportunities (economics.org.az).
