On February 26, 2026, held a meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Economics of the Ministry of Science and Education. A number of issues were discussed at the meeting, chaired by Director General, Professor Nazim Muzaffarli.
First, the dear memory of the victims of the Khojaly genocide and all our martyrs who gave their lives for the Motherland was commemorated with a minute of silence.
Executive Director of the Institute of Economics, Associate Professor Famil Rustamov made a report at the meeting of the Scientific Council on the scientific and organizational activities of the Institute.
At the report extensively analyzed the current situation, outlined development prospects, provided information on implemented measures and the work done till the present day, and achieved positive results, also paid special attention to issues related to the Institute's human potential and academic resources.
During the speech, issues such as activating the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists, integrating Ph.D students into the real scientific environment, strengthening the scientific management system, improving the motivation and incentive mechanisms of employees, organizing and coordinating scientific activities, improving the quality indicators of research, evaluating the performance of employees, and gave attention to developing an individual rating system for academic staff.
At the same time, in the speech highlighted the need to develop digital management and communication mechanisms, improvement of Institute's website and scientific journal, also revise the financial incentive mechanism. The importance of strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation with local and foreign scientific and educational institutions, holding joint events, implementing joint projects, and noted further strengthening institutional relations with state institutions.
At the Scientific Council by secret ballot decided to award Akifa Agayarova and Intizar Gurbanov, leading scientists of the Institute's "Demography and Employment Problems" department, doctors of philosophy in economics with the scientific title of associate professor (economics.org.az).
