On April 25, 2025, held an international scientific-practical conference at Baku Business University on "New strategic approaches to the development of a competitive economy in strengthening sovereignty", dedicated to the 102nd anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
Opening the event with an introductory speech, BBU’s Rector, Professor Ibad Abbasov, emphasized the relevance of the conference topic and stated that the strengthening of the sovereignty of each country and the development of state independence are directly related to its economic strength.
At the plenary session of the conference, Member of Parliament, Academician Ziyad Samadzadeh delivered a report on “The Competitive Environment of the Real Sector in Azerbaijan and Improvement of its Legislative Framework”, Director General of the Institute of Economics of the Ministry of Science and Education, Professor Nazim Muzaffarli and scientific researcher Aygun Tahmazli delivered a report on “The Competitiveness of the Country and its Enterprises: Conformities and Disconformities”, and Chairman of the Chamber of Auditors, Professor Vahid Novruzov delivered a report on “Responsible Competition - in the Context of New Challenges to Competitiveness”.
Famous scholars from foreign countries also participated in the conference. Professor Ozgur Orhangazi from Kadir Has University in Turkey, Vice-Rector Magdalena Bergman from Bydgoszcz University of Economics in Poland, Archil Kocia from Tallinn University of Technology in Estonia, Istvan Temesi from the University of Agriculture and Life Sciences in Hungary, Ruta Meiste from Utenos University of Applied Sciences in Lithuania, Associate Professor Sabrin Ali Azim from Gulf University in the United Arab Emirates, Traian Ionut Luca from Babesh-Bolyai University in Romania, and Associate Professor Tatiana Gutium from the Academy of Economic Research in Moldova shared their countries' best practices by speaking on economic competitiveness, application of artificial intelligence, green governance, and sustainable development (economics.com.az).
Scientists and researchers from the MSE Institute of Economics also participated in the conference's breakout sessions, which continued after the plenary session. In these sessions, participants held a broad scientific and practical exchange of views on ways to increase competitiveness in various fields, innovation, digitalization, and new economic models for ensuring sustainable development.
