According to the "Admission plan of higher education institutions, scientific institutions and organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the year 2024, has ended the preparation of doctoral students and Ph.D. students" approved by the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers dated March 27, 2024 at the Institute of Economics of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan
Head of Education Department of MSE Institute of Economics, Ph.D. in Economics, Ellada Khankishiyeva gave an interview to the official website economics.org.az and noted that in 2024, admission to the doctoral and Ph.D. studies at the Institute of Economics will be conducted in six majors: Domestic fiscal policy and state finances, Economics of technological innovations, Economic theory, General economics, World economy and Field economics. 84 applications were received for 18 places allocated according to the admission plan, which is almost higher for two times than in 2023 (last year there were 45 applications for 17 places). There are 4.7 applications for 1 place. Competition level in some specialties is more than others. Thus, there are 23 applications for 4 places in the specialty of "General economics", 17 applications for 2 places in the specialty of "World economy", and 16 applications for 3 places in the specialty of "Field economics".
E. Khankishiyeva noted that the vast majority of the applications received for the preparation of the doctor of philosophy are for the doctoral program admission plan. 5 people applied for the 4 places reserved for the doctoral and Ph.D. studies for the preparation of the Doctor of Sciences. At the same time, among 84 applications there are two from Pakistan and one is from Afghanistan. According to Article 22.12 of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan on "Education", the admission of foreigners or noncitizens to the doctoral program realizes in accordance with the international agreements to which our country is a part of them, the educational grant program established by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan on "Science", including the institution of higher education, scientific institutions and organizations are carried out on the basis of a contract signed between a foreigner or a noncitizen person. The education of foreigners or noncitizen persons in doctoral and Ph.D. studies realizes on a paid basis. Foreigners or noncitizen persons take an additional doctoral exam in the subject of "Azerbaijani language" during the doctoral and Ph.D. studies.
It should be noted that who successfully passed an exam on foreign language will pass an exam on "Philosophy" on 02, 03, 04 September, and the specialty exam will be held on September 9, 10, 11 of 2024 (economics.org.az).
