The Chairman of the Trade Union, Parviz Hasanov, said that every year on April 28, the International Labor Organization (ILO) celebrates the World Day of Labor Protection, paying attention to various topics related to labor protection and health.
In 2024, the ILO recommended that the same day must be celebrated under the motto "Impact of climate change on labor protection and health". Climate change has a significant impact on the world of work, especially on healthy and safe working conditions.
Examples of occupational risks exacerbated by climate change include heat stress, UV radiation, air pollution, major industrial accidents, extreme weather events, increases in vector-borne diseases, and chemical exposures. Taking into account the above, strengthening public control over the fulfillment of obligations related to environmental protection in regional tariff agreements and collective agreements, educational measures are implemented with the participation of social partners and employers in enterprises and organizations (economics.org.az).
