On April 8, 2024, held an event on occasion of 66th anniversary of the establishment of the Institute of Economics. Every year in April, at the Institute of Economics is celebrated "Institute Day", that founded on April 14, 1958
Opening the event with an introductory speech and congratulating the employees, the Director General of the Institute of Economics of the Ministry of Science and Education, Professor Nazim Muzaffarli, spoke about the establishment history of the Institute, its honorable development path, its contributions to the economic science of Azerbaijan and the country's economy, and about the conducted fundamental researches. He said that the Institute closely cooperates with state institutions, fulfills their orders, is represented as an expert in more than 10 working groups of the government. In addition, joint projects are being implemented with the country's leading universities for the purpose of integrating science and education. Carried out scientific researches by the Institute in the field of building a new economy in Karabakh is highly appreciated by the state.
Then, on the occasion of "Institute Day", the general director presented "Honorary diplomas" to the active young researchers of the Institute. Also, each 66-year-old employees of the Institute was given a cash prize of 66 manats.
It should be noted that the main activities of the Institute are the fundamental research of socio-economic development problems of the independent national economy of Azerbaijan. At the Institute of Economics, which is one of the main centers of fundamental and applied economic research in Azerbaijan, and at present there is being conducted research on "Directions for the realization of national priorities of socio-economic development in Azerbaijan in the medium and long term (2022-2025s)". The Institute bases its researches on the goals and objectives put forward by state programs, strategies and concepts.
The scientific-research direction currently carried out by the Institute has been approved by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan has determined according to the "Azerbaijan 2030: National Priorities for socio-economic development" and including to the "Development program for 2020-2025 of ANAS"
Conducted 5 rating studies based on inter-country and inter-regional comparisons by the staff of the Institute of Economics. These ratings are based on the methodology proposed by the Institute.
The institute's strategic goals are to become a real center of fundamental economic research in Azerbaijan in the near future, the main coordinator of economic research works, a collegial expert and counsellor of the government. As the flagship of economic science of Azerbaijan, the Institute of Economics is determined to fulfill its mission from now on (economics.org.az).
