With the support of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Institute of Development and Diplomacy of the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy and the Institute of Economics of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan implemented the project on "Conducting a sociological survey among IDPs and preparing preliminary forecasts in order to ensure the return of the population and integration into the territories"
In the presentation of the project organized in the State Committee was given detailed information about its purpose. Rasmiyya Abdullayeva, coordinator of the project, said that during the survey were studied the wishes and suggestions of the internally displaced persons regarding their return, were identified the factors affecting their decision to return to their homeland, and were prepared preliminary forecasts.
It was brought to attention that the First State Program on the Great Return implemented under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev envisages the creation of all necessary conditions for sustainable settlement and economic revival in the liberated territories of Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur. Currently, intensive work is being done on the Action Plan of the State Program, the returning process is being successfully continued.
Within the framework of the project, were chosen "focus-group" surveys as the main research method. 170 respondents from Shusha, Gubadli, Aghdam, Kalbajar, Lachin, Zangilan, Jabrayil, Khojavand, Khojaly and Fuzuli were involved in the surveys.
During the survey, it was once again confirmed that 95 percent of the former IDPs are intended to return to their native land.
The presentation held with the participation of the responsible employees of the State Committee, were widely discussed the results of the research, were given opinions and suggestions. These will be taken into account in the final report of the study.
