On December 22, 2023, held the next meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Economics of the Ministry of Science and Education. A number of issues were discussed at the meeting chaired by the director general of the institute, D.Sc., professor Nazim Muzaffarli (Imanov)
Prof. N. Muzaffarli presented the final report on the scientific research works of the Institute of Economics in 2023. He said that this year at the Institute of Economics, research was conducted on "Directions for the realization of national priorities of socio-economic development in Azerbaijan in the medium and long term (2022-2025 years)". The Institute bases its research on the goals and objectives set by state programs, strategies and concepts. Direction of the present scientific researches carried out by the Institute is determined in accordance with "Azerbaijan 2030: National Priorities for socio-economic development" approved by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The institute closely cooperates with the relevant state institutions regarding the implementation of the state programs approved by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the decisions of the Cabinet of Ministers, fulfills their orders and conducts joint researches. Employees of the Institute are represented as experts in more than 10 economic working groups of government institutions. During the year, a number of projects were implemented by order of government agencies (Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economy) and these works will be continued in the next year.
The director general said that in connection with the declaration of 2023 as the "Year of Heydar Aliyev" in the Republic of Azerbaijan, held 3 scientific conferences jointly with various state institutions with the participation and organization of the Institute of Economics. Published 2 books dedicated to the National Leader. Thus, on April 17, 2023, in the complex of the Training Center of the State Tax Service located in Shamakhi district, Office of the Authorized Representative of the President in the Karabakh Economic Region, Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a scientific-practical conference on "Investment attractiveness of areas freed from occupation" was organized under the joint organization of Economics Institute MSE. On November 16-17, 2023, the Special Delegation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Jabrayil, Gubadli and Zangilan districts, which are included in the East Zangezur economic region, with the joint organization of the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, State Customs Committee and Institute of Economics, MSE, held an international scientific-practical conference on the topic "International transport-logistics corridor: development impulses from Zangilan". Also, together with Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University on November 23-24, 2023, a national scientific conference was organized on the topic "Modern problems and perspectives of economic management".
In 2023, 7 monographs, 181 scientific articles, 31 articles published in journals included in international scientific bases (Web of Science, SCOPUS, etc.) abroad by the employees of the Institute. During the year, employees of the Institute participated in various local and foreign scientific conferences, forums, seminars, and events. In addition, in scientific seminars, heard reports and held discussions on topics dedicated to the current problems of the economy. Currently, the institute publishes 1 scientific magazine - "Economic growth and public welfare". The number of scientific employees is 119, of which 22 are Doctors of Science, 46 are Ph.D. in Economics, 62 are Ph.D. and Doctoral students (15 of them study on the Doctor of Sciences program) study at the institute.
The activities of the Institute of Economics were also widely covered in the mass media in 2023. About 250 news items related to the direct activity of the Institute were prepared and posted on the economics.com.az website. The number of views of the site, which is monitored from 145 countries, has exceeded 1 million. The site is mostly followed by readers in countries from Russia, USA, European Union, Turkey, Ukraine, Germany, Great Britain, China, Georgia, etc. 163 video-materials are posted on the Institute's YouTube channel. These videos include the interviews of the scientists of the Institute of Economics to the well-known and leading television channels of our country, and their participation as experts in the programs. Also, during the year, more than a hundred different pieces of information were given in the country's media about the activities of the Institute.
Then, among the employees of the Institute of Economics, the promotion of the glorious Victory won by our country in the Patriotic War under the leadership of Victorious Supreme Commander, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, as well as dedicated to the Victory Day with the aim of increasing the quality of scientific research and additional stimulation of employees for this purpose, announced the results of the competition of planning scientific-research works carried out at the Institute in 2023. Director General N. Muzaffarli announced the names of the winners and presented them with the respective diplomas. Thus, the winner of the competition among scientific departments was the department of "Regulation of Foreign Economic Activity" (head of the department, prof. Fuad Ganbarov). In the competition among employees, Ph.D. Gulnara Fataliyeva achieved 1st, associate professor Nasimi Ahmadov and Ph.D. Iskander Babazade archieved 2nd, assoc.professor, Matanat Abdalova, Ph.D. Intizar Gurbanova and scientific worker Vafa Hashimova archieved the 3rd places. Prizes were awarded to the winners.
In the Scientific Council, each of the dissertation topics of the doctoral and dissertation students admitted to the doctoral and dissertation studies of the Institute of Economics in 2023 was widely discussed and approved (economics.com.az).
