On March 13, 2023, held the next online scientific seminar at the Institute of Economics of the Ministry of Science and Education. The event chaired by the executive director of the institute, D.Sc., professor Mushfig Atakishiyev, and attended by a number of employees of higher education institutions
At the seminar, the leading researcher of the department "Economy of the Service Sphere", associate professor, Kamran Abdullayev, made a presentation on "Evaluation of the current condition of the competitiveness of the transport sphere in the Republic of Azerbaijan on innovation-based development". He said that innovation-based development of the competitiveness of the transport sphere in Azerbaijan is considered one of the main priority issues. For example, in recent years, in our country, serious measures have been taken in the direction of building a digital safe infrastructure system for the formation of digitization in the transport sector. In modern economic conditions, the development of the digital economy has a direct impact on the growth rate of the country's GDP. Hopefully, the full transition of national economic sectors (including the transport sector) to digitalization can allow us to be competitive in the global economic space and ensure national security.
The conducted analyzes show that the purchase (or joint production) of modern vehicles with modern innovative technologies for automobile, railway, sea, and air transport and using them in our country can increase the volume of cargo and passenger transportation and the revenues. In recent years, a serious difference has been observed in the economic indicators of state transport companies for transportation services. The researcher believes that it is necessary to create innovation-based joint or fully private transport companies with public-private partnership. As a result, it is possible to accelerate the innovation-based development of the transport sector. In the recent globalized world, the digitization of the services provided by different types of transport, as well as the application of modern innovative technologies in the organization of transportation, are increasingly being observed. It is necessary to ensure the digital transformation of transport services in the transport sector.
K.Abdullayev noted that as a result of digitalization of transportation services, can be ensured management of cargo and passenger flows, navigation equipment, automation of transportation flows, and coordination of information systems. The application of digital technologies plays an important role in organizing the digitalization process. In the conducted analysis, at the same time, existing problems in the direction of innovation-based development of different types of transport in our country (as well as within the framework of transit transport corridors) have been identified, and suggestions and recommendations were put forward to eliminate them.
At the seminar, questions were answered, current problems related to the development of the transport sector in Azerbaijan and future development prospects, including were widely discussed the issues of private sector organization (economics.com.az).
