On January 31, 2022, held the next online scientific seminar at the Institute of Economics of ANAS
Employees of a number of government agencies, other institutes of ANAS and higher education institutions also attended the event chaired by the Director General of the Institute of Economics of ANAS, Doctor of Economics, Professor Nazim Muzaffarli.
Director General of the Institute of History named after Abbasgulu Agha Bakikhanov of ANAS, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Karim Shukurov made a report on "History of Azerbaijan statehood - in 20 minutes". Speaking about the complicated historical path of development of Azerbaijan, the history of statehood, the scientist said that the emergence of the first states in the territory of Azerbaijan in terms of geography began in the third millennium BC. Since that time, many complex historical events have taken place in this geography, have been created, states and replaced and so on.
The historian gave detailed information about the historical states of Manna, Media, Achaemenids and the collapse of these states as a result of the marches of Alexander the Great, as well as the southern and northern lands of Azerbaijan as a whole.
Then, extensive discussions were held on the topic and answered questions.
Professor Karim Shukurov noted that we must approach the study and writing of the history of Azerbaijan in a new context: “Because we have a rich 5,000-year history of statehood, our history must be studied more deeply. In particular, the truths about our national roots and national identity must be given in the context of historical realities. A new book on the history of Azerbaijan written by the Institute of History will shed light on many questions, including the history of our statehood and national identity (economics.com.az).
