In order to contribute to the systematic activities of the Government of Azerbaijan to develop rehabilitation programs, at the meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Economics of ANAS on October 21, 2020, was decided to establish a Scientific Center for Post-Conflict Territories Rehabilitation under the Institute.
The center will conduct a comprehensive study of restoration and reconstruction process, the socio-economic issues of restoration of settlements, the reconstruction of infrastructure and life support systems, the repatriation of the population to their permanent residences and other similar problems. Particular attention will be paid to the restoration of energy supply, water and gas supply, sewerage systems, reconstruction of transport and telecommunications systems, the reconstruction of the working infrastructure of civil authorities and social facilities.
The rehabilitation programs Nagorno-Karabakh and Aran Karabakh will consider as a single socio-economic space.
It is planned to involve not only the staff of the Institute, but also specialists of other institutions, as well as independent experts in the work of the Scientific Center "Rehabilitation of post-conflict areas" (economics.com.az).
