On February 11, 2020, held the next meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Economics, ANAS. Listened to the report on the topic by Doctor of Economics, Professor Rena Sultanova, head of the department of “Regional development and utilization problems of natural resources”. The professor noted that the implementation of three programs on socio-economic development of the regions has been successfully completed and the fourth program is a logical continuation of previous programs. In 2019, only gross domestic product increased by 2.2 percent, industrial production by 1.5 percent, the non-oil sector by 3.5 percent, and the non-oil sector by more than 14 percent. Last year, created 98,000 new workplaces. Regions played a major role in achieving these results. In the framework of the Fourth State Program on socio-economic development of the regions in 2019, directed 7.2 billion manat. Prof. R.Sultanova stressed that achieving balanced and sustainable development of the regions is one of the main goals. In particular, the development of non-oil sector, agrarian sector, processing industry, modernization of infrastructure, creation of new workplaces and employment, improvement of social welfare of people, development of traditional sectors, improvement of investment climate, attraction of investments into promising areas, the aforementioned state programs play an exceptional role in promoting export-oriented products and developing the private sector.
