On July 29-30, 2026, a group of employees of the Institute of Economics of the Ministry of Science and Education visited the Agdash region within the framework of the project "Strategic socio-economic development directions of the Agdash district".
A meeting was held with the Head of the Executive Power of the Agdash Region, Orkhan Huseynzade. During the meeting, the project coordinator, Head of Department at the Institute of Economics, Professor Terbiz Aliyev, provided a comprehensive overview of the progress achieved within the framework of the research project. He noted that extensive surveys had been conducted among entrepreneurs and sectoral experts, while the current state of agriculture, industry, services, logistics, energy, tourism, and other key sectors of the regional economy had been thoroughly analyzed. The research also assessed the region's development potential and resulted in the preparation of a number of evidence-based project proposals aimed at supporting sustainable regional economic development.
Professor Terbiz Aliyev also presented information on the activities planned within the framework of the project, as well as the preliminary findings of the analyses and assessments conducted to date. The meeting featured a comprehensive exchange of views on the prospects for the socio-economic development of the Agdash region, with participants offering proposals and recommendations aimed at ensuring the continuation of the research and enhancing its practical relevance and policy impact.
A separate meeting was also held with Ali Karimov, Deputy Head of the Executive Power of Agdash Region and Head of the Department for Socio-Economic and Architectural-Construction Issues. The participants discussed the current progress of the research project, the activities planned for the next phase, and a range of organizational matters related to the implementation of the project.
The discussions were attended by Shakir Aliyev, Deputy Director for General Affairs of the Institute of Economics, Allahyar Muradov and Mahir Zeynalov, Heads of Departments at the Institute, and Khanmusa Ahmadov, Head of Sector at the Executive Power of Agdash Region.
The project on "Strategic Directions for the Socio-Economic Development of the Agdash District", aims to provide a comprehensive scientific assessment of existing economic potential of the region, identify development opportunities, enhance its attractiveness for private investment, and formulate strategic recommendations for its long-term socio-economic development. The outcomes of the project are expected to contribute significantly to evidence-based regional development planning and to strengthen the investment attractiveness of the Agdash region (economics.org.az).
