Employees of the Institute of Economics of the Ministry of Science and Education participated in the international scientific conference "15th ASECU Youth International Conference 2026 ("NextGen SUSTAINABILITY")" held at the University of Rzeszow in Rzeszow city, Poland, on July 6-10, 2026.
The event was co-organized by ASECU – Association of Economic Universities of Southern and Eastern Europe and the Black Sea Region and the Faculty of Economics and Finance of the University of Rzeszow. The conference program brought together students, young researchers and scholars from a total of 17 countries, including Albania, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, China, Greece, Italy, Poland, Turkey, Ukraine and others, creating ample opportunities for scientific cooperation, academic exchange and intercultural dialogue.
The Institute of Economics was represented at the conference by the head of the department "Regulation of Foreign Economic Activity", Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Fuad Ganbarov, and Raisa Valiyeva, a Ph.D. student at the Institute.
On the first day of the event, Professor Fuad Ganbarov participated in a panel session on “Evidence-based Sustainability: Statistics, Data Quality, and Artificial Intelligence for the Sustainable Development Goals.” In his speech, he discussed the role of economic research institutions in developing reliable data systems for monitoring the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, especially in countries undergoing economic transformation.
F. Ganbarov also highlighted the contributions of artificial intelligence and data-driven economic analysis to priority areas such as innovation, energy transition, productivity growth, and inclusive economic development. He emphasized the increasing importance of modern digital technologies in economic policymaking and decision-making.
On the second day of the conference, Raisa Valiyeva, a doctoral student at the Institute, delivered a report on “The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on International Trade Corridors: in the case of the Middle Corridor.” At the presentation extensively analyzed the impact of artificial intelligence technologies on international trade and logistics systems, and the role of digital solutions in increasing the efficiency, sustainability, and competitiveness of the Middle Corridor.
The report was received with interest by the conference participants, and held extensive scientific discussions on the topic with professors and researchers from different countries. Raisa Valiyeva also actively participated in group activities and networking sessions organized within the framework of the summer school, holding meetings with young researchers from different countries to establish cooperation and exchange experiences.
During the meeting held with the leadership of ASECU within the framework of the conference, the issue of membership of the Institute of Economics of the Ministry of Science and Education in the Association was also discussed. During the meeting, views were exchanged on future cooperation opportunities with the organization, implementation of joint scientific projects, and perspectives of participation in international conferences and research programs.
At the end of the event, presented certificates to the delegates who actively participated in the work of the international conference.
It should be noted that the participation of the Institute of Economics’s staff in prestigious international scientific events is of great importance in terms of expanding the institute's international scientific relations, promoting Azerbaijani economic science in the international academic environment, also creating new opportunities for cooperation with foreign partners. Such events also make a significant contribution to the integration of young researchers into the international scientific environment, the study of advanced scientific approaches, and the formation of new research directions (economics.org.az).
