At the permanent scientific seminar of the Institute of Economics of the Ministry of Science and Education, our compatriot, Head of the Department of Higher Mathematics at the Faculty of Economics of the National Research University of the Russian Higher School of Economics, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Fuad Alasgarov, made a speech on "Network Analysis".
In addition, employees of the Institute, researchers from a number of higher education institutions in Azerbaijan also participated in the event online.
The seminar, chaired by the Director General of the Institute of Economics, Professor Nazim Muzaffarli, was preceded by the introduction of the guest speaker. It was noted that Fuad Alasgarov is a specialist in game and management theory (including mathematical and applied modeling of political processes), an honored professor at the National Research University of the Russian Higher School of Economics, head of the laboratory "Theory of Choice and Decision Analysis named after M.A. Ayzerman" of the Institute of Management Problems named after V.A. Trapeznikov, an honorary worker of the Russian Federation for Science and Technology, and a member of the European Academy. The professor specializes in applied network analysis, studying the interactions and effects of elements in various systems. He researches network models, methods for identifying influential nodes, and the application of networks to socio-economic issues, including the analysis of export and import markets. In 1981, he defended his Ph.D. thesis on "Management in Social and Economic Systems" at the V.A. Trapeznikov Institute of Management Problems, and in 1993, his D.Sc. thesis (on: "Local Aggregation Models").
Professor Fuad Alasgarov, who made a comprehensive presentation at the seminar, provided information about the main essence of "Network Analysis", his many years of research in this field, and their results. The scientist analyzed and evaluated lending in the banking sector using the network analysis method, which he authored. Two indices have been developed for valuations – Bundle and Pivotal indices. These valuation models have been used in Russian and Turkish banks. The indices allow for a mathematical analysis of the current situation in the bank lending market. The socio-economic impacts of international population migration have also been assessed using the “network analysis” method.
F. Alasgarov spoke broadly about another research - network analysis of food security problems under conditions of deep uncertainty. This analysis allows us to measure and assess food security, the level of nutrition of the population, the impact of crises and natural disasters on the food supply of countries, taking into account local production, imports and exports in individual countries. The results of the scientist's research, including 5 books, have been published by Springer Publishing House.
Then, were answered questions and were held extensive discussions around the topic.
