Held an event on the occasion of 67th anniversary of the establishment of the Institute of Economics

  Held a solemn meeting on the occasion of the 67th anniversary of the establishment of the Institute of Economics of the Ministry of Science and Education. Founded on April 14, 1958, and annually the April 14 is also celebrated as "Institute Day" at the Institute of Economics.  
  Opening the event with an introductory speech, the Director General of the Institute of Economics of the National Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Economics, Professor Nazim Muzaffarli spoke about the establishment history of the Institute, the glorious path of development it has taken, its contributions to Azerbaijani economic science and the country's economy, and the fundamental research it has conducted. He noted that during the years of independence, the Institute of Economics has carried out successful and significant scientific research works in the direction of formation and development of the independent national economy of Azerbaijan, and has rendered important services in the field of training professional national personnel. Being a center of fundamental science in Azerbaijan, it has raised a generation of well-known economists in the country. Prominent economists have worked here for many years. 
  The Director General congratulated Professor Shahbaz Muradov on being awarded with the "Honorary Elder" given by the Elders' Council of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the "Science Day". He also congratulated employees who had celebrated their jubilee these days, including the head of the department, associate professor Mahir Zeynalov and senior researcher Svetlana Najafli, and presented their diplomas. It was noted that each employee of the Institute was given a cash prize of 67 manats in connection with the 67th anniversary. 
At the meeting, the heads of departments of the Institute of Economics of the National Academy of Sciences - corresponding member of ANAS, professor Shahbaz Muradov, professor Tofig Huseynov and professor, Terbiz Aliyev spoke about the role, position and importance of the Institute in the development of economic science in Azerbaijan, as well as its rich historical development path. In addition to highly evaluating the activities of the Institute, they wished the team success in their future scientific research. It was noted that over 900 PhDs’ and 100 DScs’ have been defended in the dissertation defense councils during 55 years. These graduates of the institute have made great contributions to the management and development of the Azerbaijani economy, and are currently successfully represented in state institutions and the country's parliament. 
  The Institute closely cooperates with relevant state agencies in implementing state programs approved by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and decisions of the Cabinet of Ministers, fulfills their orders and conducts joint research. It also implements joint projects with the country's leading universities aimed at integrating science and education. The Institute's employees are represented as experts in more than 10 working groups of government agencies related to the economy. The research conducted by the Institute in the field of building a new economy in Karabakh is highly appreciated by the state.
  The Institute of Economics is determined to further advance its mission as the flagship of economic science of Azerbaijan. Its strategic goals are to become a real center of fundamental economic research in Azerbaijan, the main coordinator of economic research, and a collegial expert and advisor to the government in the near future (economics.org.az).
