Masim Mammadov, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Lachin region, was a guest of the Institute of Economics of the Ministry of Science and Education. The working meeting was attended by the Director General of the Institute of Economics, Professor Nazim Muzaffarli, as well as a group of employees of the Institute.
Prof. N. Muzaffarli gave broad information on the main areas of activity of the Institute of Economics, carried out the fundamental scientific research works, cooperation with state institutions and projects carried out on their orders, including scientific research, events, conferences, and publications related to the construction of a new economy in the liberated territories.
M. Mammadov spoke about the unique geographical features of Lachin region, large-scale restoration and construction works carried out in the region, and infrastructure projects. Noting the main specific features of the local economy, the guest highlighted the main goals, the revival of the region's economy in line with modern challenges, the work to be done in this direction, the creation of new jobs along with the increase in population, the problems of developing local production and service sectors, attracting private investments, and the formation of a local entrepreneurial class. He said that 3,600 people have been relocated to Lachin so far, and 100 more will be settled by the end of the year. This process will be continued in the coming years. It is planned to build about 20 residential buildings and 350 private houses in Lachin in 2026-2027.
