The Nobel Prize Committee of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has announced the winners of the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel for 2025 - Joel Mokir, Filippe Aghion and Peter Houitt. They were awarded with the prize "for their contributions to innovation-driven economic growth."
Half of the prize was awarded to Joel Mokir "for identifying the preconditions for sustainable growth through technological progress", and the other half was awarded jointly to Philippe Aghion and Peter Howitt "for their theory of sustainable growth through creative destruction".
Joel Mokir was born in Leiden, Netherlands in 1946. Professor at Northwestern University, USA. Tel Aviv University, Israel.
Philippe Aghion was born in Paris, France in 1956. Professor at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Peter Houitt was born in Canada in 1946. Professor at Brown University, USA (economics.com.az).
