At the Institute of Economics of the Ministry of Science and Education held an event on September 27 - Memorial Day. First, the souls of our martyrs were commemorated with a minute of silence.
Opening the event with an introductory speech, the General Manager of the Institute, Shakir Aliyev, said that in response to Armenia's next military aggression against our country, which began on September 27, 2020, under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan launched a Patriotic War to liberate our occupied lands. Our army liberated our lands, which had been under the control of Armenian invaders for nearly 30 years, from occupation. As a sign of deep respect for our soldiers and officers who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of our country, as well as all our martyrs, by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev dated December 2, 2020, September 27 is celebrated as Remembrance Day in the Republic of Azerbaijan every year. The courage and bravery shown by the heroic Azerbaijani soldiers in achieving this victory will live forever in the memory of our people and will serve as an example for future generations.
Speakers at the event - Tanriverdi Pasha, Shafag Islamova, Sevda Mikayilova, Famil Rustamov, Elnur Zeynalov and others - spoke about the great victory achieved as a result of the 44-day Patriotic War, the path leading to this victory, the huge construction work currently being carried out in our lands liberated from occupation, and the resettlement of people in their ancestral lands.
It was noted that 2,783 servicemen of our Armed Forces were killed in the Patriotic War, more than a hundred of our servicemen went missing, and more than a thousand of our servicemen were injured and lost their health. Our occupied lands were liberated at the cost of the blood and lives of our heroic martyrs, soldiers and officers, and veterans. Remembrance Day is a day when we honor the sacred memory of our martyrs and bow our heads in respect to their souls.
Azerbaijan always highly appreciates the bravery of its fighting sons and daughters, respects the souls of all our martyrs, and holds their memory high.
May God have mercy on our martyrs!
May God grant health to our veterans!
